The Cape Floristic Region is by far the smallest of the six Floral Kingdoms in the world. This remarkable place, roughly the size of Ireland, is home to more than 6,000 species of endemic plant, the majority of which is made up by a group of exquisite flowering shrubs called Fynbos. The vineyards of the Western Cape often grow alongside and among the indigenous fynbos as both thrive in the Mediterranean climate offered by its unique terroir.
